What an incredible Sandstone Cleaning project? MCS Stonecare had already previously restored the whole ground floor of the inside of this clients house. Their Travertine floor was completely transformed. So they asked m to take a look to see if I could improve the patio tiles. The clients have had their patio cleaned every year but were never very happy with the results they were given. They also found that the parts that looked cleaner after, went green very quickly shortly after.
On first inspection, there were many rust stains from furniture on the tiles. These had got worse over the years and down the side of the house, which is always in the shade. All of the fencing and shedding was covered in green Algae.
A test area was done by cleaning a tile and then treated with Algae & Lichen remover, which was done in November time. Come Spring, the clients booked MCS to carry out the works as they were so please with the test area which had stayed clean through the worst months of the year.
The first part of the stone cleaning procedure is to apply a cleaning solution, which is suitable for tiles. Carbon brushed, attached to a rotary machine are used to scrub the tiles and agitate the cleaning solution. The rust marks were also seen to. The tiles were then washed down with machinery using steam. After everything has been cleaned, the Algae treatment is applied to all areas including lower walls, fencing etc. This treatment will keep working through the whole year.
Our clients were absolutely delighted with the results. These kind of sandstone cleaning results are incredible and offer us great pride in what we do. This is a valuable lesson in that the least expensive quote is not always the best. Look into what the service provides, what assurances they can offer and check that any two quotes are directly comparable. This Rainbow Sandstone flooring belongs to a commercial property in Ongar, Essex of which there is approximately 200sqm of flooring. Though Sandstone is very hardwearing, it is also very porous and due to the rough texture, it will collect dirt and grime readily which can penetrate deep into the stone if unprotected. This particular Sandstone floor suffered from many years of foot traffic and had no protection applied previously (or a very poor one). This had made it impossible for the onsite cleaning staff to maintain. On inspection by MCS Stonecare, a test was [...]
