Marble Polishing and Restoration – How to Maintain their Appearance
Marble tiles offer timeless beauty and sophistication. Marble is instantly recognisable and is endless in its variety of colour patterns and veining, boosting its uniqueness. It is a hard-wearing stone and requires a regular, although simple, routine maintenance alongside professional care to maintain its natural beauty.
Once your marble flooring has been restored, it is advisable to approach your marble cleaning with daily maintenance. This will likely eliminate smaller issues becoming larger unnecessary problems. An entrance door mat with a waterproof backing will catch dirt, water and salts brought in from outside. Salt is corrosive to marble and may result in small pits in your marble tiling. Superficial dirt can be cleaned by using a cotton mop. It is recommended that you use as little water as possible. Should any water, grease or oil be spilled on your tiles, blot them as soon as possible to avoid the stain absorbing into the stone.
Shop purchased cleaning products and detergents should be avoided if possible as they can leave marble dull in appearance. Should a stain require it, extremely diluted dishwashing liquid may be used to clean your floor tiles, although a small test area should be used to ensure that you do not leave staining. Never try to remove stains by scouring, scraping or bleaching marble; harsh chemicals and cleaning practices will result in severe damage to your tiles.
