Choose the correct products for your natural stone floor

Cleaning natural stone is different to cleaning other floor coverings. It is important to use a detergent formulated for natural stone. Other stone cleaning products may contain acid that can dull and etch the surface of the stone tiles. Follow the instructions provided on the bottle and apply generously. If there are particularly dirty parts or stubborn stains, you may require a stronger solution.

Take time to prepare for the process

If possible, take your time to find out what products will work best for your particular stone floor. Once we have deep cleaning your flooring, we will offer information on the best products for ongoing care. Always test new products on an inconspicuous part of the floor first. It may be worth waiting for a few days before tackling the main floor to check there are no adverse reactions.

Grout Cleaning Loughton

You can scrub at ingrained dirt

When you are using cleaning products, allow them to work for 10 to 20 minutes, periodically scrubbing stained areas. It is likely that the grout may require further work as it is a porous and recessed area of your floor. Dirt can be pushed into the grout lines during routine cleaning. This dirt sits in the recesses and ingrains. We recommend using a nylon bristled brush.

Wipe up residue and rinse

When this process is complete it is important to remove the dirty cleaning solution. Rinse the floor with a mop and bucket. Excess wetness can be removed with a towel. Remember it is important not to over wet your floor as this can damage the surface. You should always check whether your stone tiles are appropriately sealed by putting a few droplets of water on the surface. If they are absorbed it is time to apply another layer of sealer or impregnator.
